Currently, Language Resource Center is seeking INTERPRETERS to fill various full-time, part-time and independent contractor positions for the following languages:

• Mandarin (for Manassas, VA)
• ASL (Charlotte, Greensboro, Raleigh, Manassas)
• Burmese (Charlotte, Raleigh)
• Cambodian/Khmer (Charlotte)

Candidates must demonstrate the following:

1. Fluency in English and other paired language
2. Highly skilled in the cultural dynamics (cultural implication and idiomatic expression) of both languages
3. Ability to concentrate, to stay detached from the conversation, and to remain neutral and objective at all times
4. Ability to follow client’s instructions closely
5. Ability to explain certain cultural concepts and background to avoid miscommunication
6. Completion of High school education
7. Education in languages/translation/interpretation or related fields preferred, but not required
8. Bi-lingual work/education experience in customer service or any language field (teaching, language assessment, translation, interpretation) in the target language is helpful
9. Must be at least 18 years of age
10. Must be legally authorized to live and work in United States

Positions requires performing variety of interpretation services to assist non-English speaking consumers/patients at various settings such as Health Care, School System, Social Service, Mental Health, Legal Services, etc.
