Cultural Orientation

You have landed in a foreign country, good. You also have well trained interpreters and translators working for you, excellent. You are off to a great start no doubt, but if you really want to live and work in the best possible harmony with the people who speak strange languages, you will have to look beyond just ‘decoding’ the ‘noises’ they make when they talk!

This is where our invaluable Cultural Orientation services come in. Through these services, you will learn about the culture of the foreign land where you are working. Whether you are there in an individual capacity or operating your business, you don’t just have to understand the words that the foreigners are saying. You need to understand why they are saying it. Why are they phrasing certain words in a particular manner and why sometimes they don’t respond properly?

.

How are you benefited?

Through our Cultural Orientation, you will learn the social norms and customs of the foreign society so you can better understand their communication. As a person seeking to work on the basis of interpretational services, you should know that 90% of the effectiveness of a conversation is non verbal!

Language Resource Center (LRC)  Cultural Orientation team will work with your organizations on a variety of topics, including regional information, social and cultural differences, diversity, cross-cultural communication etc.

.

Understanding culture by a closer approach

Now you can’t have your interpreter explaining the quirks of your foreign partner that you are in an important discussion with. Can you? What you can and must do is learn about the culture that you work in or you will seriously undermine your productivity.

Cultural Orientation is not just about understanding foreign behavior, it’s about minding your own behavior as well. For example in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, burping over dinner will be taken as a sign of appreciation for the delicious meal, but insisting to compliment the host’s wife personally will not go down very well!

.

Boost your productivity and more…..

Whatever industry you work in, we have a well trained staff of people from diversified ethnic backgrounds who will help you adapt in a foreign culture very efficiently. They will not just give you lectures detailing the foreign customs and culture. You will be encouraged to ask important questions (even weird ones) that you will most definitely have.

They will not only boost your productivity and let you achieve your potential, but also make your time away from home more comfortable and enjoyable.
